Minimalist Niacinamide 5% and Hyaluronic acid 1% Serum Review

When it comes to skincare there are few ingredients I absolutely love and trust. One of them is NIACINAMIDE.

Niacinamide or nicotinamide is a form of vitamin B3 also referred to as THE BEAUTY VITAMIN. Niacinamide when applied topically on the skin can make a lot of difference to the skin. It is a very skin friendly ingredient which can show results in a matter of four weeks if used regularly and consistently.

Niacinamide can be used 5%-10% for seeing a significant improvement in the hyperpigmentation of the skin.

The various benefits of using niacinamide are-

  • It helps in strengthening the lipid barrier of the skin.
  • Reduces hyperpigmentation/dark spots.
  • Protects the skin against environmental and oxidative stress.
  • Reduces inflammation.
  • Prevents early signs of aging.
  • Regulates sebum production.
  • Helps in controlling and reducing acne.

My experience with the product-

I do love a good ingredient list when it comes to skincare. Good percentage of actives and good preservatives is something I am a big fan of. Minimalist have a clean ingredient list which is fragrance free. The serum has a quite viscous consistency. It absorbs completely within a matter of a few minutes and leaves the skin soft and supple. As this serum contains humectants like aloe vera juice and hyaluronic acid you need to top it up with a good moisturiser or emollient cream to seal the moisture into the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a great humectant which can hold upto 1000 times of its weight in water. It is a glycosaminoglycan which helps in plumping the skin and reduces transepidermal water loss. It also helps in hydrating and moisturising the skin. With hyaluronic acid you can see results immediately or in a few days.

Niacinamide serums can be applied in conjunction with alpha arbutin serum, vitamin C or retinoids if your skin can tolerate it.

I usually apply this one every night along with my retinol serum as they are working really well for my skin and apply a good emollient cream afterwards. Whenever using actives just remember to apply a good sunscreen during the day time.
