Minimalist Alpha Arbutin 2% and Hyaluronic acid 1% Serum Review

Hey πŸ‘‹

Thank you for stopping by πŸ™‚

Hope you are doing great πŸ‘

Today I am reviewing the Alpha Arbutin serum from the brand Minimalist.

Arbutin is a naturally occurring compound which is found in bearberry.

Alpha and beta arbutin are derivatives of hydroquinone.

Hydroquinone is a potent agent for the treatment of dark spots, hyperpigmentation and melasma. It is a tyrosinase enzyme inhibitor which helps in reducing melanin synthesis resulting in removal of spots and giving an even toned complexion.

It is considered the gold standard treatment of melasma. Despite the benefits, hydroquinone poses certain side effects resulting in limiting its usage in different skin colors and types. Alpha arbutin on the other hand is a gentle derivative of hydroquinone which helps in reducing the marks/spots in the same way as hydroquinone excluding its side effects.

Minimalist alpha arbutin serum claims to be an anti-pigmentation daily serum that dramatically reduces dark spots and blemishes for brighter, even-looking skin.

My experience with the product-

MY YOUTUBE VIDEO

Minimalist alpha arbutin is an affordable serum for the quantity and quality of the product. The product has a clean ingredient list and is fragrance free. I use alpha arbutin serum daily on my face and neck both during the AM and PM routine. The serum has a viscous consistency and it glides on smoothly on the skin. It absorbs quickly without leaving any sticky or greasy residue on the skin. The serum contains aloe vera juice and sodium hyaluronate (form of hyaluronic acid) which are great humectants helping in hydrating the skin.

After application of this serum I usually apply my active of the day or night and follow up with a good moisturiser/ Emollient Cream.

While using this serum the skin has to be protected against the harmful UV rays so that the pigmentation doesn’t come back. For this I would recommend using a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with SPF more than 30. It would help in preventing the early signs of aging as well. Alpha arbutin takes 2-3 months to show any significant results in the skin so consistency with this product is extremely important.

Pros-

  • Affordable
  • Easily available
  • Fragrance free
  • Silicone free
  • Non-sticky
  • Comes with a dropper
  • Paraben free
  • Helps in reducing dark spots on the skin.
  • Didn’t give me any breakouts or rashes.

Cons-

  • None for me.

Will I repurchase it?
