In today’s post I am reviewing Minimalist Sepicalm 3% and Oat Moisturiser. The main reason why I wanted to try this moisturiser was it contains squalane, oat as well as Sepicalm which is a combination of amino acids and minerals such as magnesium and potassium.

The sepicalm helps in soothing and calming irritated skin and helps in reducing inflammation. Sepicalm used in this product is sourced from Seppic France and the Squalane is sourced from Sophim France according to their website.

Squalane helps in improving the skin barrier which helps in healing and repair.

This moisturiser also contains oat extracts and colloidal oat which helps in adding extra nourishment to the skin.

What does the product say?

A lightweight moisturizer that hydrates, soothes, and softens skin, without oily, shiny or heavy residual feel. Perfect blend of hydrators, emollients and occlusives for all day moisturization. Suitable for Normal, Acne-Prone & Sensitive Skin.

Texture and consistency-

A lightweight cream which I must say does not glide on easily on the skin. It takes time to absorb completely and sometimes leaves a sticky feel on my skin.

The moisturiser consists of three components-

1.Humectants- sodium polyglutamate, vitamin B5, xylitylglucoside, glycine and amino acids.

2.Emollients- squalane, capric triglyceride.

3.Occlusive- shea butter.

My experience with the product-

I’ve tried many serums from MINIMALIST so I really had very high hopes with this moisturiser as well. Minimalist focusses on a clean and transparent ingredient list which attracts me the most. When I first opened the packaging I knew it was going to be a tub but what was disappointing was they didn’t provide a spatula to scoop out the product. I really don’t like tub packages without a spatula as it’s very unhygienic to dip your fingers again and again in the tub. So I just used my spare spatula to scoop it out. The texture is really fluffy. The moisturiser took a lot of time to absorb into the skin and after the first time usage I found it a bit tacky on my skin.

As mentioned in the box it can be applied daily both AM and PM, so I started using it daily both times. The major issue that I found with this one was firstly it didn’t glide on smoothly then it took time to absorb and during the day it made my skin feel greasy with a heavy feeling on the face. I live in a humid climate so after using it during the day my skin started producing more sebum and I literally looked like a frying pan throughout the day😫. Finally I stopped using it during my AM routine. Talking about the PM routine, I don’t mind a little greasy face during the night as it makes my skin really soft and supple the next morning. So I started using this ONLY in my PM routine. It hydrates and moisturises my skin well during the night and doesn’t clog my pores. I do have mixed feelings with this particular product and I am not sure if I’ll repurchase it the second time.

A good combination of emollients, occlusives and humectants.

Cons-

Takes a lot of time to absorb.

Does not glide on smoothly on the skin.

Makes my skin excessively oily during the day.
