Suganda 2% BHA Serum Review

Hey 👋

Thank you for stopping by ☺️

Hope you are doing great 👍

Being an acne prone skinned girl for so many years I’ve developed a strong connection with AHA’s and BHA’s. Alpha hydroxy acids help in fading away the dark spots and improving the texture of my skin and Beta hydroxy acids helps in unclogging the pores resulting in a clear complexion.

Salicylic acid 2% is the best over the counter product that is available for acne prone skin. When the pilosebaceous follicles get clogged due to dirt, oil, keratinisation and bacterial proliferation it leads to formation of blackheads, whiteheads and acne. Using keratolytic agents such as salicylic acid in the skincare helps in unclogging the pore as it dissolves the dead skin layer, debris and also micro exfoliates the skin.

Today I am reviewing SUGANDA’S BHA SERUM, which I am currently using as a spot treatment. Suganda is an Indian brand which makes cruelty free, fragrance free, vegan skincare products with clean and effective ingredients.

Directions to use

After cleansing the face apply 3-4 drops to your entire face and neck. Beginners should mix this with their moisturiser to let their skin adapt first.

Caution- do a patch test before using the product. Discontinue if irritation occurs.

Texture and appearance-

The product is watery in consistency and has a brown tint to it. It gets absorbed easily without leaving any greasy or sticky feel on the face.

Key ingredients-

Salicylic acid- antimicrobial in nature, penetrates deep into the lipid layers of the skin and unclogs pores. Helps in reducing inflammation.

Camellia sinensis leaf extract– green tea is a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory in nature. Helps in reducing irritation and inflammation on the skin.

Centella asiatica extract- also called as gotu kola has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties which helps calming and soothing the skin.

My experience with the product-

I’ve used four products from suganda and they didn’t disappoint me a single time. Their BHA serum also worked well on my skin. The only thing is I don’t use this product as a serum. I only use it as a spot treatment on my face. The reason behind this is I’ve used salicylic acid serums in the past from my favourite brand as well but tend to get breakouts whenever I apply salicylic acid on non-problematic areas. I use this serum only on the days when I am breaking out, apply on the affected area, let it dry for a few minutes and then continue with the skincare products on the rest of my face. This serum works great as a spot treatment for me. I see reduction in inflammation and pain on my zit in 2-3 days. Obviously it does not completely vanish overnight but heals at a much faster rate without leaving any blemish or scar on my face. I never combine AHA, BHA and vitamin C in my skincare. Always use them on different parts of the day or alternate days. As all of them are acids and cause exfoliation on the skin using them together might irritate the skin and lead to inflammation as well.

Pros-

Affordable.

Easily available.

Clean ingredients.

Cruelty free.

A little product goes a long way

Travel friendly.

Comes with a dropper

Didn’t cause any adverse reactions on my skin.

Cons-

In some people it might cause purging so use cautiously while using salicylic acid as a serum.

Will I recommend it?

Yes. especially for oily acne-prone skin types.
