Benefits of Rosemary Oil

Today I’ll be talking about the benefits of rosemary oil. I just love this oil and have been using it for a variety of purposes.

This amazing rejuvenating herb has a number of benefits which will soothe and calm your mind along with its added benefits for your hair.

Rosemary, as we all know is a culinary and healing herb. It is highly concentrated and is used in cooking, cleaning, hair care and other health purposes. From antioxidant, anti-inflammatory benefits it is also good for memory enhancement.

Rosemary is a member of the mint family, Rosmarinus officinalis which is highly aromatic shrub. It was often used by healers in early cultures of ancient people like Egyptians, Romans Hebrews and Greeks.

Rosemary oil contains a chemical 1,8 Cineole and alpha pinene which are known for their renewing properties. Rosemary leaves has been used in a variety of cuisines which helps in preventing constipation and also helps in detoxification of the liver. Also, it helps in digesting large proteins in the body.

Now lets go through its benefits one by one-

1.It is beneficial in preventing hair loss-Rosemary increase the blood circulation, to the hair follicles and hence promotes hair growth in individuals. Some research studies have also proven that rosemary oil works as minoxidil (a drug used for alopecia) but without the side effects of it such as irritation, itching or dryness of scalp.

How to use -You can mix 3-4 drops of rosemary oil with coconut oil and can apply to your scalp while massaging it. It will promote the circulation and also helps in better absorption of the oil. three to four drops of rosemary oil can also be added in your hair serum which will add a soothing aroma that will calm your senses and help your hair at the same time.

2.This oil is antibacterial in nature and can help with your respiratory problems. The scent of rosemary oil eases congestion.

3. Also helps in relieving pain. If you suffer from joint pains you can apply 3-4 drops of rosemary oil with coconut oil to the affected area and massage gently. Rosemary has antispasmodic and analgesic properties which will help in relieving the pain in a natural way.

4.Helps in relieving stress. Adding few drops of rosemary oil to your bath can soothe your senses and relieves stress levels in the body, hence boosting your immune system.

5.It also boosts memory. Massaging your head and back of neck with few drops of rosemary oil diluted with coconut oil can provide a good aromatherapy and helps in improving concentration by relieving stress and anxiety, resulting in better cognition and memory.

6.Used for treating foul breath– rosemary oil has been used for treating bad breath since ages. Its antimicrobial properties kill the bad bacteria resulting in a fresh breath. It also prevents tooth decay, cavities and plaque formation.

How to use -Mix 10-15 drops of rosemary oil with 150 ml of distilled water and use it as a mouthwash for a fresh breath. Don’t ingest the essential oil. Rinse your mouth nicely after usage.

7.You can also use this essential oil as an insect repellent and room freshener.

How to use -Just add 20-25 drops of rosemary essential oil with 200 ml of distilled water and keep it in a spray bottle. You can spray it in your rooms and balcony and it will act as a potent insect repellent while giving a nice smell to your home.

So, as you can see there are some amazing benefits of rosemary and you can use this multipurpose oil for a lot of things at your home.

Just remember to take some precautions while using it on your skin or hair. Don’t use undiluted rosemary oil for direct application as it can dry or irritate your skin. Use only 3-4 drops for the same.
