When I was in my teens I suffered from severe cystic acne all over my face and neck and people used to make me feel sorry for myself 😒. I used to think “Yes, I have bad skin but you don’t need to point it out to me 😠.” Seriously if I would have gotten rent from every zit living on my face I would have been a millionaire by now🙄. Those thoughts made me religiously follow a good skincare routine and a healthy lifestyle to make me feel better both internally and externally. I still get acne from time to time but I try to find out ways and products that can keep the problem at bay.
For a skincare sucker like me I just hang around the online Sephora or Nykaa sites whenever I need to boost my endorphins. From homemade DIY masks to peel off masks, sheet masks and wash off mask I try each and everything according to my skin needs. Sometimes I feel my savings account is all over my face 🤑. Well, I have a combination, sensitive and acne prone skin type so; I have to be extra careful while putting anything on my face.
Today I am reviewing a wash off mask from the Innsifree bija range, “The Innisfree Bija Trouble Mask”.
Innisfree is a popular Korean skincare brand that uses natural and effective ingredients in their products.
This mask is made from Bija seed oil from Jeju Island and contains 2% salicylic acid (BHA).
Salicylic acid dissolves the keratin plugs (sounds gross) and regulates the skin cells. Beta Hydroxy Acid works on skin’s surface; it is oil soluble, so often preferred for normal to oily skin that is prone to acne and blemishes.
Let’s get to the details of the product now –
Bija seed oil is used for treating acne, clearing up blemishes and healing of the skin. This oil is very potent in penetrating the pores to prevent new acne, blemishes and heals active zits.
The combination of Bija seed oil and salicylic acid makes the product worth giving a try.
It comes in a light blue tube with a flip top and each tube contains 120 ml of product.
PRICE- 900 INR.
Directions to use–
After cleansing, smooth over the entire face and neck avoiding the eye and lips area. Leave on for 15 minutes, then gently massage with fingers and rinse with lukewarm water. Use it 1-2 times a week.
Immediately stop if irritation occurs.
My Experience With The Product–
Before buying any product I definitely go to the ingredient list first. Anything containing AHA or BHA is a big YES for me. This mask contains 2% salicylic acid which is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that works wonders on the skin. The texture of the formula is thick and creamy, which spreads effortlessly on the face. It has a mild fragrance that was pretty comfortable to my senses 😇.
A little amount of product is needed to completely cover the entire face and neck. Immediately after application I felt soothing and calming effects on my skin.
The mask does not dry off completely you just have to set a timer for 15 minutes. After washing with lukewarm water my skin definitely felt smoother, softer and squeaky clean.
It helped with the small zits on my face but don’t expect miraculous effects on cystic acne. Acne is a condition which has many causes and being a doctor I can say that everyone’s body and skin type is different and you really need to know the root cause before jumping into conclusion.
Now coming back to the product….
- Thick creamy texture.
- Travel friendly.
- Spreads effortlessly.
- Doesn’t dry out my skin.
- Give a smooth complexion.
- Helps in removing dead skin cells.
- Did not break me out.
- Effective in drying small zits.
- Comes in a tube with flip top, which makes it very hygienic and convenient to use.
- Good quantity of product in a single tube.
- A little product will go a long way.
- None for me.
Will I repurchase it?
I am already using my second tube.
Hope you found it helpful.
